Sending wine or spirits
Wine, champagne, beer and spirits go anywhere in Ontario as long as the recipient is 19 or over, the province's legal drinking age. A driver or courier will only hand alcohol to a person 19+ with photo ID, never leaves it unattended, and a courier requires an adult's signature; with nobody of age at home, delivery is re-attempted or the parcel is held. The store also stocks kosher wine and alcohol-free gourmet ranges.

Same-day from abroad — really?
Yes, when the address is in Toronto or the GTA and the order arrives by 11:00 a.m. Eastern that day (see the New Zealand equivalent in the table). The rest of Ontario is courier: order by 2 p.m. Eastern, delivered in one to three business days.
What about sending beer or spirits?
Fine for a recipient who is 19 or over. Expect a photo ID check at the door; alcohol is never left unattended.
Will it be left if they're out?
Yes for most gifts — in a safe place or with a neighbour, with a note to the recipient; couriers can do the same. Alcohol is never left: it's re-attempted or held.
